PMC Dedicated

On November 1, 2009 Pittsburgh Mennonite Church was officially dedicated to the service of God, the congregation, the community and to the world.  Brad Yoder led us in song accompanied by Keith Hershberger and Erin Clymer.  Pastor John Bender led the ceremony. Former pastor John Stahl-Wert opened the dedication with a prayer.  Congregants Bernie and Kathleen Good shared the history of Pittsburgh Mennonite.  Guest speakers included Pastor Dai Morgan, pastor of the Swissvale United Methodist Church, who gave us a brief but entertaining history of our facility.  Tracy Baton took us through the journey of looking for a building and how God guided us in every move.  The mayor of Swissvale, Deneen Swartzwelder, warmly welcomed us to the community.  Reverend Dennis Handley welcomed us to the Swissvale Ministerium where we can unite with other people of faith to work and pray for our new comunity.  Congregant Karen Howard led us through the Litany of Dedication.  Moderator of  Allegheny Mennonite Conference  David Garber led us through a prayer of dedication.  The dedication closed with an arousing version of Hymn #118.

Following the dedication a dessert buffet was served with guests given the opportunity to tour the facility.
